Art Hour: Recycled Notebooks

Celebrate Earth Day with a fun project that reuses materials found around the house.

During my freshman year of college I attended an event led by the environmental club where we learned to make recycled notebooks. This is one of my favorite projects to teach because it's so simple and turns a simple box into a functional product.

At this Art Hour event, I'll walk you through the steps to make your own notebook.

Materials needed:
- a cereal box or something similar. (See image below for ideas)
- recycled paper: AKA paper used on 1 side (or you can use plain paper). This will be used for the pages inside your notebook
- a hole puncher
- ribbon, string or binder rings
- scissors

Making art is a form of self-care. Born out of Covid; Art Hour allows you to make something of your own while sharing virtual space with others.

Art Hour is designed for all levels of talent; from those who say “I’m not creative” to professional artists. This is a safe space to explore your creativity free from judgment and negative self-talk.
